Damage

Fact or Fiction?

We hear it all the time: “Termites don’t eat hardwood”.

Well, let’s put that story to rest. It’s not true!

Termites eat hardwood, and we commonly see termite damage in hardwood framed homes, retaining walls and fences. Here are some photos of termite damaged hardwood homes and the photo here shows Ironbark tree stumps that were hollowed out by termites. Termites are slower in hardwood framing but the results are the same as in pine framing.

So next time you hear someone say “Termites don’t Eat Hardwood” tell them they’ve got it WRONG.
